History

of Lazarus Onstage Studios

The roots of Lazarus Onstage Studios began in 1996 when CEO & Artistic Director, Natalia Lazarus, opened the Promenade Playhouse on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

The Promenade Playhouse provided the community with a remarkable array of critically acclaimed stage productions. In addition, the bustling location lent itself for film festivals and movie shoots. Nestled within, was also an International school, the LA Performing Arts Conservatory, specializing in Acting, Screenwriting, and Filmmaking.

In the spring of 2022, after 25 years, the Promenade Playhouse was set for demolition. The Playhouse team acted swiftly and by May 2022 had secured a fabulous building in the heart of West Los Angeles.

CUT TO………. The birth of Lazarus Onstage Studios – the beginning of the next dream…

“It has been an arduous but fulfilling transformation. The answers aren’t always evident, and the challenges are always eminent. Securing and sustaining a creative campus for artists from all over the world continues to be both my quest and purpose. Thank you to all who have supported us in this journey and please join us as Founding Members so that we may continue to build the Studio, the Conservatory, and the Theatre together…”
